For those who wish to go beyond the well-known islands in the Caribbean, beyond the glamour and resort-style trips, Carriacou’s size, location and proximity to the nearby Grenadine island chain makes it undeniably unique. With 100+ rum shacks and just one gas station, this small Caribbean island is full of charm and adventure.
I was lucky enough to stay for a week in the stunningly beautiful Villa Joya recently and loved every moment of my vacation! The Villa is beautifully decorated… Clean, simple and extremely comfortable. Its open plan design and position gives great views over to Petit Martinique whilst enjoying the constant cool breeze from the ocean!
I was welcomed by Barbara, the Housekeeper who made me extremely welcome throughout my stay and kept the villa impeccably.
I cannot recommend Villa Joya more highly
We visited as a family group of two adults, three grown up children, aged 25, 23 and 21, and my 85 year-old mother.
After landing in Grenada, we were whisked onto our small charter plane for a 20-minute flight to Carriacou. At the charming local airport we were greeted with drinks and cold towels and a spectacular drive across the island to Villa Joya. The first impression of the villa as you crest the hill at the top of the drive is breathtaking. We were shown into the spectacular high ceilinged living room and immediately knew we had made the right choice.
